The Vibe: Tacos La Calle is currently my favorite local Mexican eatery! They cook up tasty Mexican fare like the customary tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. A few more adventurous menu items appear on the menu, such as birria ramen and a pizza birria with layers of tortilla, cheese, and meat.
Taco La Calle operates out of a food truck permanently stationed by an inviting patio with seating at picnic tables under umbrellas. There’s also a small games lawn.

Prices are on the high side, but I’ve yet to have a meal that couldn’t have been at least two. Excepting the tacos, but that’s because I order two of those at a time, and no more.
Leave your credit card at home—they only take cash, Venmo, or Zelle payments in person. You can use a card if you’re ordering from Doordash or Grubhub.
Tacos La Calle also earns bonus points from me for being open until 10:00pm.
My Take on Tacos La Calle #
The Food: Pickled jalapeno, carrots, and crisp radishes come with each meal. If you order from the birria menu, you’ll likely get a roasted spring onion, potato wedge, and jalapeno as well, which are delicious. Many of the plates come topped with a bonus fried tortilla round, which helps transport them better.
Tacos La Calle prepares eleven different meats, including grilled shrimp, buche, suadero, cabeza, and of course, al pastor, chicken, and carne asada. My first time, I went with what is often my standard choice at Mexican joints: tacos.

That’s a quesabirria taco in back and a half-eaten vampiros birria taco in front. The vampiros is a crispy fried taco that I highly recommend. The crunch was perfect: a mix of quesadilla and tostada in texture. Lots of flavor from the meat, and the filling-to-tortilla proportion was excellent.
For the quesabirria taco, I was underwhelmed, as the cheese dominated the beef in a limply fried tortilla. I’ve more recently had their super tacos, which offer a nice light crunch and taste better than the quesabirria by far. It’s honestly amazing how many different ways they prepare tortillas here. Not all of them work, like that quesabirria taco, but most are excellent.
Do note that if you want consommé with a birria order, it’s an extra $2.50 charge. The consommé is supposed to be great, though! I haven’t added it to one of my orders yet.
The Crazy Torta was my lunch on my second trip … and my dinner that evening. It’s stuffed full of ingredients, including bistec de asada, carnitas, al pastor, panela, cilantro, onions, mayo, and guacamole. And it comes with fries!

Basically, if you can’t decide what meat you want, pick the Crazy Torta! The bread has a delicious buttery grilled texture, and I was amused that the panela is just stuck in there in big chunks.
Although it is also titled “crazy,” the Crazy Fries include only one meat. But as you can see, that does not reduce their craziness!

My husband had that platter of fries piled high with hot Cheetos, jalapenos, cheese, and sour cream. A can of soda is included in the cost, just because. He was happy, but could not polish it all off, that’s for sure.
I opted for a super corn quesadilla that trip, and I was SO PLEASED.

I have not often come across extra thick corn tortillas in Mexican restaurants, so I was delighted to see the quesadilla served in a hefty one. It was the perfect thickness to stand up to the massive amounts of toppings the quesadilla held. I will be having another one of those, and probably soon!
My biggest critique of Tacos La Calle is that the salsa packets are impossible to open without scissors, which makes using them quite difficult if you’re eating on site. I suppose I could ask for a snip from the workers, but I end up saving them for my leftovers later. The red salsa is the tastier of the two, as it has more roasted flavor.
I have not tried the burritos, not being a fan of beans. But they get raves in reviews! Tacos La Calle makes a 15-inch roll for the overachievers out there.
Would I Go Back? I’m thinking about it tonight! But how will I decide between vampiros tacos and the super corn quesadilla? Decisions, decisions…
